Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about HomepageFrame — from getting started to technical integration. Can't find what you're looking for? We're happy to help.

Getting Started 3 questions

HomepageFrame is a structured, research-backed framework for designing and optimising eCommerce homepages. Unlike a Shopify theme or a page builder, HomepageFrame is a methodology — a set of 12 modular sections, each with proven layouts, copywriting guidelines, and conversion principles drawn from analysing over 500 high-performing online stores.

You get implementation guides for each section, templates you can adapt to any platform, and a clear audit process to identify exactly what's holding your current homepage back. Whether you're starting from scratch or optimising an existing store, HomepageFrame gives you the structured approach that replaces guesswork with data.

Most stores complete a full implementation in 2–4 weeks, working at a reasonable pace. Here's a typical timeline:

Week 1: Run the homepage audit, prioritise sections, and tackle the Hero and Navigation modules — these deliver the fastest conversion lifts.

Week 2: Implement Product Showcase and Social Proof sections — trust and product presentation upgrades that directly impact add-to-cart rates.

Weeks 3–4: Roll out Conversion Sections, fine-tune copy, and begin A/B testing. Measure, iterate, and expand to remaining modules.

If you already have a developer or Shopify partner, you can move faster. If you're doing it solo, 4–6 weeks is a comfortable target without overwhelming your schedule.

No — HomepageFrame is designed to be actionable for non-technical founders and marketers. The framework provides copy-ready templates, wireframes, and section-by-section implementation guides written in plain language.

That said, someone will need to make changes to your store (whether that's you using a theme editor, a freelance developer, or an agency). HomepageFrame tells you what to build and why — you or your developer handles the technical execution.

For Shopify stores, many of our modules can be implemented directly in the theme editor with no code. For more complex sections, we provide Liquid snippets and clear developer handoff documentation.

Framework 4 questions

A Shopify theme gives you a design — colours, fonts, a visual style, and a fixed set of sections. HomepageFrame gives you a strategy.

Think of it this way: a theme answers "what does my store look like?" HomepageFrame answers "what sections do I need, in what order, with what content, to maximise conversions?" You apply the framework on top of your chosen theme.

This means HomepageFrame works with any theme — Dawn, Prestige, Impulse, custom builds, or themes on WooCommerce, BigCommerce, or Magento. The framework's principles are platform-agnostic; only the implementation details differ.

Absolutely — and this is one of HomepageFrame's key design principles. Each of the 12 modules is fully independent. You don't need to rebuild your store from scratch. Instead, you identify which sections are underperforming (using our audit checklist) and tackle them one at a time.

This modular approach means you can improve your store incrementally, measuring the impact of each change before moving to the next section. Many stores start by fixing just their hero section and see meaningful conversion improvements within the first two weeks.

We recommend starting with the Hero Section audit. It's the first thing every visitor sees, and our research shows it has the highest leverage on both bounce rate and scroll depth — the two metrics that most reliably predict overall conversion rate.

After the hero, the typical high-ROI sequence is: Navigation clarity → Social Proof → Primary CTA placement → Product Showcase. However, we always recommend running the 47-Point Homepage Audit Checklist first to identify your specific weak points, as every store is different.

Each module in HomepageFrame comes with a set of KPIs to track before and after implementation. Key metrics include: homepage bounce rate, scroll depth past the fold, click-through rate on primary CTAs, add-to-cart rate from the homepage, and overall homepage-to-purchase conversion rate.

We provide Google Analytics 4 event tracking snippets, Hotjar heatmap setup guides, and a simple measurement dashboard template (Google Sheets) that you can use to track these metrics without complex analytics configuration. A minimum 2-week comparison window (same days of the week) gives statistically meaningful data for most stores with over 500 monthly sessions.

Pricing 3 questions

Yes — our Starter plan is completely free and always will be. It includes access to the core HomepageFrame methodology, the first three modules (Hero, Navigation, and Social Proof), the 47-Point Audit Checklist, and our community Discord.

Paid plans (Growth and Pro) unlock all 12 modules, the full template library, live Q&A sessions, priority support, and agency features like multi-store management and white-label reporting. You can create a free account here with no credit card required.

Yes, completely. All paid plans are billed monthly with no annual lock-in (though annual billing is available at a 20% discount if you prefer). You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from your account dashboard.

If you downgrade, you retain access to your current tier's features until the end of your billing period. If you cancel, your account reverts to the free Starter plan so you never lose access to your audit checklists and basic resources.

Yes — we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans, no questions asked. If you've implemented a module, followed the guide, and don't see measurable improvement after 30 days, we'll refund your payment in full.

We stand behind the framework because we've seen it work across hundreds of stores. If it doesn't work for you, we don't want your money. To request a refund, simply email hello@chefskilldevelopment.com within 30 days of your first payment.

Technical 2 questions

Yes — HomepageFrame has full compatibility with Shopify 2.0 themes and is optimised for them. Online Store 2.0's section-everywhere architecture is actually a perfect match for our modular approach, since you can drag-and-drop sections into your homepage template without touching code.

We provide theme-specific implementation notes for the most popular Shopify 2.0 themes including Dawn, Prestige, Impulse, Streamline, Symmetry, and Editions. For themes not on this list, the general Shopify 2.0 guide covers the approach for any compliant theme. Legacy (1.0) themes are also supported with alternative implementation instructions.

HomepageFrame itself is a framework and education product — we don't do custom development directly. However, we have a vetted network of agency partners who specialise in HomepageFrame implementations and can execute your homepage rebuild end-to-end.

These partners have been trained on the methodology and follow our quality standards, so you get the framework applied correctly without needing an in-house developer. To connect with an agency partner, contact us and we'll match you with a partner suited to your platform, timeline, and budget.

Integration 3 questions

HomepageFrame is platform-agnostic at the methodology level and provides platform-specific implementation guides for: Shopify (including Shopify Plus), WooCommerce, Magento 2 / Adobe Commerce, BigCommerce, and custom-built stores.

The principles, wireframes, and section strategies apply universally. What differs between platforms is the technical implementation — which theme files to edit, which apps complement the framework, and which native features to use. If your platform isn't listed, the framework principles still apply and our community can help with implementation specifics.

Yes — HomepageFrame's email capture and pop-up modules are designed to work seamlessly with all major email marketing platforms including Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Omnisend, Drip, ActiveCampaign, and Postscript (for SMS).

The framework covers the strategic layer: what to offer, where to place sign-up prompts, and how to set up the pop-up timing logic. Integration with your specific email platform is handled through that platform's native Shopify integration or embed code — we provide setup notes for Klaviyo and Mailchimp specifically, as they're the most common among our users.

A public API is on our roadmap and is currently planned for release in Q3 2026. The API will allow agencies and developers to programmatically access audit checklists, section templates, and scoring data — useful for building custom tools or integrating HomepageFrame data into client reporting dashboards.

If you're an agency or tool builder interested in early API access, reach out to us to join the early access list. We're actively gathering requirements from potential API users to shape the feature set.
